The Eucharistic Host dripped blood on this altar cloth (corporal) in a Eucharistic miracle that’s at the founding of the Feast of Corpus Christi. A 13th century priest had struggled with some doubts about the Real Presence, but God spoke to him through this miraculous sign at the moment of consecration in a Mass he was celebrating near here in Orvieto, Italy. The priest brought the bloodstained cloth to the pope who was staying in Orvietto at the time. Shortly after, the pope instituted the Feast of Corpus Christo and commissioned St. Thomas Aquinas to write the hymns for this new feast day. To this day, the city of Orvieto each year on Corpus Christi has a grand Eucharistic procession in which they also carry the relic from the miracle—the blood stained corporal—throughout the streets to commemorate the miracle and celebrate our Catholic Eucharistic faith. Blessed Solemnity of Corpus Christi!Image attachmentImage attachment+2Image attachment

Blessed be the body and blood of course Lied Jesus Christ

Blessed Cerimony and Miracle. Unfortunately the city of Orvieto had to held the parade inside the Cathedral due to rain this year.

Got to visit this holy site in January while on a pilgrimage with Casting Nets. It was such a blessing to see this beautiful church. Wish we had more like them.

My daughter was there yesterday,on Corpus Christi, but it was raining so the procession was confined to the inside of the church. Still beautiful for her to see.

Wow - that was one of the high points of our trip with you to Rome around 2007. The whole trip was fabulous, but it was a bonus to be in Orvieto and see the parade on Corpus Christi.

Amen Amen Amen

We were marching in procession Corpus Christi! The Cathedral is surrounded by our homeless. At first they blasted their boom box at us, there toward the end they silenced and kept staring at us as we made our way back to the cathedral. Blessed be our Lord and God sweet Jesus Christ!!✝️🙏✝️🙏✝️

I was afraid the rains we've had the last few days might prevent the eucharistic procession from taking place. But the Lord saw to it that wouldn't be the case. I participated in the procession yesterday after mass at the Shrine of the Most Blessed Sacrament in Hanceville Alabama.

♥️🩸♥️🩸♥️🩸 BELIEVE 🌿🕊️✝️

Surrounded by relics of so many married saints and blesseds during our marriage retreat this weekend! Thankful to pray before the relics of Saints Joachim & Anne; Zelie & Louis Martin; the cloak of Joseph & the veil of the Blessed Virgin Mary; and Blessed Josef & Victoria Ulma and their 7 children. It’s awesome being Catholic and having so many heroic witnesses and saints praying for us, cheering for us in our vocations—especially married saints who experienced the joys, struggles, stresses, and lack of sleep that we experience as parents and husbands and wives today. All married saints and blesseds, pray for us!Image attachment

Beth and I lead a marriage retreat here in Birmingham, Alabama this weekend, reflecting on how God meets us not just in the Sacraments, the Bible and prayer, but also in the daily difficulties, stresses, disappointments, and hurts of ordinary marriage and family life. We talked on how those challenges in our marriages are not just problems to be solved but places to encounter God at a deeper level in our poverty…how in the midst of those trials, God is inviting us to experience a deeper level of healing, conversion, unity and love.
Please pray for the many couples from all over the South who came to enrich their marriages in these ways, including several FOCUS missionaries and alumni. Please also pray for the Sister Servants of the Eternal Word who host wonderful retreats throughout the year here at their Casa Santa Maria retreat house just down the road from EWTN.Image attachmentImage attachment+1Image attachment
