Great to visit with Focus Missionaries from all over Iowa while speaking at the Catholic Men’s & Women’s conferences in the Diocese of Dubuque! It was a blessing to meet Bishop Jackels and so many faithful Catholics in his diocese, where I spoke on ‘Walking with Mary’ and Stations of the Cross. I also presented to college students from around Iowa on. ‘Men, Women and the Mystery of Love’. I’m thankful also for the many on-fire Catholics I met at the amazing St Michael’s parish in Prior Lake. Please pray for the Bishop, all the Focus missionaries and the lay faithful in the upper Midwest!Image attachmentImage attachment+7Image attachment

When people talk about the rosary, there is so much one can say. I appreciate the Christ-focused aspects. I know some people can list countless miracles or success stories tied to the rosary (Lepanto, the woman who was spared from Ted Bundy's attack, etc.). Some people can dig deep into the myteries. One thing that stands out to me is that outsiders/non-Catholics HEAR Mary's name many times. But because rosaries involve the meditations on Jesus, many people don't realize just how Christ-centered it is, even if no words were prayed out loud. Sometimes I think it would be good for someone to gather some of the insights that people have gained while praying the rosary. I know it's really deepened my views and understanding of the various mysteries.

Great talk on Saturday.

Thank you so much for blessing us with new connections to Mary and the Bible! It really gave new light to some of the presentations in our CGS Atrium today at school.

Great picture

The altar in Nazareth marking the spot where the annunciation took place! This is inside the excavations of the remains of Mary’s house, today inside the church of the Annunciation in Nazareth. The inscription on the altar says something unique, something that could only be said at this very sacred spot—“And the Word was made flesh HERE.” Let us give thanks for the gift of God becoming man and dwelling among us… And for Mary’s “Yes”! Have a Blessed Solemnity of the Annunciation!Image attachmentImage attachment+4Image attachment

My wife hosted the third of her Jane Austen parties this past weekend. CS Lewis once said Jane Austen is the last author representing classical western civilization and the great tradition of the virtues. Each year, Beth has Augustine Institute students, Focus missionaries, and teachers from our Catholic school over for a night with Jane Austen. This year they watched ‘Persuasion’. Beth has a fun, feminine dinner for the ladies and gives them an introduction to the plot and main characters in the book. Then they watch the movie, and over dessert, they discuss the themes from the work and how it applies to our lives today— how it relates to friendship, virtue, dating and marriage. Though modern popular movies might give the impression Jane Austen is just about women and romance, her books are actually for both men and women—for all who desire to become men and women of great moral character and heroes in the narratives of their own lives. I’m thankful that my wife shares her passion for Jane Austen and introduces this important writer for our times to many young people today!Image attachmentImage attachment+7Image attachment

I love Persuasion!

How absolutely delightful.

Totally agree with Lewis! Austen shows that virtue is the goal and that others, when we allow them, can promote real change and conversion in ourselves! Ascension press should do a Beth Stein edition of a Jane Austen novel that includes recipes and discussion questions on how to lead a Jane Austen party!

I love this so much!!!

Wonderful! How inspiring!

Great idea!

Love this idea!

I am sure she encourages them to read the books beforehand. :-) Just about every film version of Jane Austen adds romance, while the author was not romantic at all. Her books were amazing analyses of humanity that transcend time, and still teach us today about virtue and so much more.

That is so cool, what a great idea.

How wonderful!

Do you have a resource available for this?

Wish I could have been there

One of my favorite memories from being out there in Denver!

Oh, I’d love to attend! How do we find out more?

I also love Jane Austen and every time i see the movie of Sense and sendibility is always a new revelation

Lovely!

That is so fun! My daughter would love this! How do we find out more to have her participate sometime?

Jane Austen is wonderful. Can she bring this out to CA? 😁

Does she do these in other states?

What a great idea 💡!

Isabel Padolina we need to do this!!

Regency Marketplace

Wonderful!

Awesome

Great to see my son Paul and his friends at the Grand Rapids Catholic Men’s Conference today! Over 900 men here! I spoke on ‘Into His Likeness’ and ‘ Who am I to Judge?’ Sister Mirium James spoke here as well. It was a joy also to speak at Faith and Wine in southwest Florida and Ave Maria University, where the school gave to all the students my book ‘The Art of Living’ to read for Lent. Please pray for the amazing students at Ave Maria, the faithful in southwest Florida, the 900 men in Grand Rapids, and my son Paul and his friends from Hillsdale College!Image attachmentImage attachment+7Image attachment
